First I would like to introduce myself. I am Kris Killorn, owner of Insty Prints in Belgrade, and the proud President of the Southwest Montana SCI Chapter. I was born and raised in Montana, attended College in Wyoming. I have spent most of my life in the hunting industry as well as a hunter myself. I have served on the SWMT SCI board for 2 years now and have help out in previous years, and look forward to serving as your President.
Enough about me. I would like to talk about what I see is the most pressing issues that face us as sportsman today. Currently I-177 is on the ballot. Many outdoor groups, including SCI, are opposing the incentive. You may ask “Why?”. The reason is simple. First, the environmental group, and posing sportsman’s groups attack smaller groups first with the overall goal of taking down of the outdoorsman. Here is a scenario, they take away trapping on public and state lands, now the FWP is faced with all the trapping as well for predator control, which means they need more fund-ing, which raises license which leads to less hunters in the field. Also they could stay under funded with their new endeavor, which leads to more predators, less game, less hunters. The way I see it, there is no way to vote for the incentive I-177.
