First, a little about myself since I am a newbie.  I’m a native-born 5th generation Montanan who was exported out of state after finishing my degree at MSU.  I spent a career all over the world in the oil industry wishing I were back home only to finally return in retirement nestled up the Shields Valley against the Crazies.  My Dad had me outdoors as soon as I could walk, hunting and backpacking and otherwise passing on to me this precious heritage.  I was the luckiest kid in America!  I LOVE to hunt and am passionate about preserving and protecting that rite of passage so many of us in SCI enjoy.

By being a member of SCI, you are part of a special group of people who are dedicated to wildlife conservation and our right to hunt.  Indeed, SCI’s Mission is: “…to protect the freedom to hunt and to promote wildlife conservation worldwide”.  The worldwide part is a very important element, but did you know that each Chapter only contributes 30% of it’s Net Earnings to the National group, and only from the largest event?”  I did not know that, and it is noteworthy compared to other organizations that everything else we raise is used locally.  That kills the misconception that SCI is only for those among us that hunt internationally.  It is not true – it is for ALL HUNTERS, and SCI stands strong in the political arena to fight to preserve and protect our hunting heritage.

Please consider this when you are thinking about joining, renewing, or upgrading your membership.  We need you – our numbers help influence state and national legislators.  Thank you for your commitment and support!

Thanks,

Bill Finch
